A sharp increase in the number of French tourists in Varna

The number of French tourists visiting Varna has increased significantly in recent years, according to Irina Ugrinska, chief marketing, advertising, and analysis expert at the Varna Tourism Authority. This announcement followed Varna's participation in the IFTM Top Resa International Tourism Fair, held in Paris from September 17 to 19.

According to municipal authorities, approximately 10,000 French tourists chose Varna for their summer vacation this year—an increase of 201,000 compared to last year. French tourists stay longer in the seaside capital than others, spending an average of six days, while other nationalities vacation for four to five days. According to Ugrinskaya, this figure underscores the need to further attract tourists from France.

At the exhibition in Paris, Varna was promoted as a resort with a rich historical heritage and diverse tourist offerings. French tourists are primarily attracted by cultural tourism and the opportunity to incorporate sightseeing into their travels, Ugrinska added.

During the summer season, many French tourists contacted the Tourist Information Centre for information about Varna's cultural and historical sites, indicating their preparedness and high interest in local culture.

The most popular attraction among French tourists was the Golden Treasure of the Varna Chalcolithic Necropolis. Promotional materials for this site were the first to be sold at the exhibition in Paris. Other popular attractions include Pobiti Kamani, Aladzha Monastery, and the Roman Baths.

Ugrinska also noted that many young French people have expressed interest in summer internships in Varna. This interest is particularly noticeable among schoolchildren and students studying tourism and related fields.
